If I am involved in an international terrorist event and survive, and in a foregin hospital, and John Howard is still in government, I want it publicly known that I, under no circumstances, wish him to pay a patronising visit which will then appear at the human interest tail end of the evening news.
I can’t imagine anything which would infuriate me more. It certainly wouldn’t aid my recovery. So if I’m out of it, and unaware of my surroundings, I want family and friends to know this too: John Howard is never to visit me in hospital, or anywhere else for that matter.

The flight to Singapore from Japan on Wednesday was the shortest flight of mylife, although it was 8 hours long. Why? Because none of the security checkpoints were at all concerned about my knitting needles. So I spent a very pleasant flight finishing my tricksy double knit candy stripe scarf and watched bad movies. I’m hoping to repeat the experience tonight, although less lighting means I probably won’t have as easy a time of it.
The queue at immigration in Kuala Lumpur was horrendously long, and a group of people in front of us kept sneaking people forward in line, and getting to the counter only to find that they hadn’t filled out the disembarkation card properly. A very slow process in all. The male officials were very rude and abrupt with everyone, but we got through without a scratch.
Yesterday we spent about 8 hours shopping, enough that even I was sick of shopping afterwards. Mark was a trouper – I visited about 40 shoe shops and he either accompanied me or waited outside without complaint. Of course, I did the same for him with his electronics shops so I figure we’re even. The city is beautiful – this afternoon we’ll take the monorail and see a little more of it. I was only 7 last time I was here so I remember very little of the city, only the hotel. Mark has been here several times now so he’s quite familiar. KNows the best malls, too.
