My blondie

He’s so delicious, developing so quickly.  In the space of ten days or so he has learned to get around by himself, chase things, roll over from back to front (which is his favourite and most amusing trick of all) and he’s interested in this waving business that Grandma’s trying to teach him.  He’s also enjoyed attempting to feed himself – he knows where to put the spoon.  It’s getting him to stop banging it on the table when he’s impatient for the next mouthful, and getting him to move his hands so I can get the food in!

His version of crawling doesn’t yet involve knees – it’s a seal-like flop, and although today he was using his knees more, his forward movement is inelegant.  Very determined though.  And his arms and toes are strong enough to sustain the position in the following picture for ten or fifteen seconds:

He will crawl after you, and when he catches you, he will dribble you to death:

Do the Locomotion (with me?)

We have forward movement!  Amusingly, Arlo moves like an inchworm – or perhaps more like a seal, as it’s quite ungainly.  Sometimes he forgets how and becomes frustrated, and often if he can see me he stops and cries for milk.  His arms are very strong – he holds his entire body off the ground, his weight resting on just his hands and the tips of his toes.  He does reasonable facsimiles of both The [Dreaded] Plank and downward dog; I may have to take him along to pilates sometime.

More photos to come – some of yesterday’s lunch with his eldest cousin, who turned 18.  They’re very cute together (even if C. has a stack-hat haircut).
